The Red Cross/Red Crescent Network meeting involved member countries in the Eastern region and the Indian Ocean where 16 countries have participated in the meeting commenced on 18th September 2024 at the Mount Meru Hotel in Arusha, Tanzania. The member countries of the Red Cross/Red Crescent are the Presidents and Secretaries General of the reputable National Socities.

Hon. David M. Kihenzile, President of the Tanzania Red Cross Society and host of the meeting, welcomed attendees and outlined the direction of TRCS in supporting the government’s disaster response efforts. He expressed gratitude to all stakeholders who assist TRCS and discussed the collaboration between the Tanzanian government and TRCS in aiding the local community.

He also welcomed the Chief Guest, Bolaji Akpan Anani, Vice President of the IFRC Africa Region, who urged members and leaders of the Tanzania Red Cross Society to consider running for various leadership positions within the IFRC. Currently, there are two candidates: CPA T. Japhet Shirima and George Nangale.
