TRCS SECRETARY GENERAL ELECTED VICE-CHAIR OF RC NET

The Secretary General of the Tanzania Red Cross Society, Ms. Lucia Pande has been elected Vice-Chair of the Red Cross/Crescent Network of East Africa and the Indian Ocean Region.
Ms. Lucia was overwhelmingly elected with unanimous support from the Red Cross/Crescent leaders, who are members of the RC Net, from those nations during the two-day meeting held from September 18th to 19th this year in Arusha.
In addition to her, Robert Kwesiga, the Secretary General of the Uganda Red Cross Society, was re-elected as the Chair of the region for a second term, along with three members from Djibouti, Rwanda, and Madagascar. This marks the first time a Tanzanian has held this position since the establishment of RC Net. The President of the Tanzania Red Cross Society was among the leaders who attended the meeting.
